How to Combine SIGHTRIGHT with Phone Video for Better Practice Feedback
Pair a first-person visual reference with one safe, consistent camera angle to review your walk-in and setup without overreading a single frame.

Short answer: SIGHTRIGHT lets you observe a selected line from the player’s position, while phone video shows the walk-in, head, bridge and cue from outside. Use the two sources together for a narrow, repeatable practice question. Neither source is a complete diagnosis, and neither guarantees better accuracy.
Choose one question before recording
Start with a question you can answer from a short clip, such as “Does my head move sideways during the final lowering?” or “Does my first step change when the reference appears right?” Avoid filming an entire session and hoping it explains every miss. A narrow question gives both the trainer and the camera a defined job.
Use an easy, repeatable shot. Select the intended cue-ball direction before placing SIGHTRIGHT, then plan five no-hit walk-ins. The trainer is a 150 × 23 × 18 mm aluminium-alloy accessory with two visual planes, a silver centre line and a curved notch. Keep its placement and the ball layout fixed for the block.
Write four possible observations—left, centred, right or unclear—before starting. SIGHTRIGHT provides a reference for the selected line; it does not select the shot line or prescribe a universal stance.

Set one safe, consistent phone angle
A rear angle can show the relationship between the standing start, body and cue direction. A side angle can show when the head lowers and where the bridge lands. A front angle can show broad lateral movement, but only when the phone is well outside the cue and ball paths. Choose the view that matches your question.
Use a stable tripod or ask another person to hold the phone from a safe position. Frame the feet, upper body, cue and useful table reference when the walk-in matters. Keep camera height, distance and orientation unchanged for all five repetitions. If the phone moves, mark that clip as a different setup rather than comparing it as if nothing changed.
Never put a phone on the table, beside a pocket or in the line of a cue. Check the venue’s camera rules, ask permission before recording other people and avoid capturing private conversations. Safety and privacy come before a clearer angle.
Match your notes to each repetition
Before each approach, say the repetition number quietly or show it to the camera. Stand upright, select the line, walk in normally and pause at address. Observe SIGHTRIGHT before writing one label. This creates a useful pairing: repetition three, right; repetition four, centred.
After five attempts, watch the clips at normal speed first. Look for broad repeatability rather than millimetre-level conclusions from one paused frame. If the label changes when the first step or head movement changes, you have a pattern worth testing. If the video looks consistent but the labels alternate, recheck the trainer placement and standing view before changing your body.
A video can show movement; it cannot reveal every internal visual experience. Keep a short record in a SIGHTRIGHT practice log so the question, labels, comfort and camera angle remain separate from later shot results.
Test one comfortable variable
Use the first block as your baseline. If the combined evidence suggests a question about the final lowering, make one small, comfortable change and repeat three times from the same start and camera position. Then return to the original setup for three more attempts.

Transfer the observation to normal shots
Remove SIGHTRIGHT from the playing area and confirm that the phone is outside every possible ball and cue path. Play a few ordinary shots with the same routine and keep the camera angle fixed if you are still reviewing the movement. Do not carry the trainer into the strike.
Judge the visual routine, cue delivery and shot result separately. A pot or miss depends on line selection, tip contact, cue delivery, speed, cloth and pocket conditions. Video may show a change in delivery, but one shot cannot prove that the change caused the result. Keep one practical note for the next session rather than collecting hundreds of unlabelled clips.
If repetitions become inconsistent, use a full reset between SIGHTRIGHT observations: step away, stand upright and return to the same comfortable starting area. Resetting gives each clip an independent beginning.
Keep the medical and accuracy boundaries clear
SIGHTRIGHT is a training accessory, not a medical or vision-correction device. It does not test eyesight, identify eye conditions or diagnose why a visual relationship changes. Phone video also cannot diagnose an eye or physical condition. Stop if a position causes pain, dizziness, headache, eye strain or visual discomfort and seek appropriate professional advice.
